It don’t mean a thing, if you ain’t got that swing, so get some in Dalton State College Continuing Education’s new ballroom class Learn to Swing Dance which starts Monday evening.
From the ballroom floor to the dance floor, swing dance is at home anywhere. East Coast Swing is a rotating swing dance with fun wraps, tunnels and turns. Professional and award-winning ballroom dancer and instructor Nelson Rodriguez will patiently demonstrate swing and guide students as they learn this easy, intuitive and not incredibly structured dance.
Students will enjoy Rodriguez’ outgoing personality and thorough teaching style, according to Kelly Snyder, personal enrichment program coordinator for Continuing Education.
“Nelson is a consummate professional,” said Snyder. “Couple that with his charming personality and you’ve got the ideal dance instructor. Learning to swing dance with him will be a comfortable, fun experience for everyone.”
“Swing music is very diverse and covers everything from oldies like Elvis and Chuck Berry to country to big band to today's hits,” said Rodriguez. “You can truly swing to just about any type of music, and that’s one thing that makes this dance so popular with all age groups.”
Learn to Swing Dance will focus on swing’s basic turns, wraps and hand changes. So grab a partner, put on your boogie shoes, and get ready to wow 'em on the dance floor. Swing is a blast!
