Center for Continuing Education offers free computer classes for displaced workers

— The Center for Continuing Education at Dalton State College is offering free computer classes to displaced workers who have little to no previous computer experience.
The students, identified and qualified by the local Department of Labor Career Center, have generally held jobs that did not require personal computing skills.
The program is funded by a grant from Georgia LEADS (Lifelong Education and Economic Development Services) and classes are in a computer lab in the college’s James E. Brown Center.
“This certificate program is comprised of 24 class hours that include classes in Computer Basics for Rookies, Internet and E-mail, Microsoft Word Basics, and Basic Excel,” according to Pam Partain, director of Dalton State’s Center for Continuing Education.
Partain noted that the first group of students finished the program this week and that during the month of June, four more cohort groups will be offered.
