Junior Achievement races scheduled for Halloween morning in Dalton

Junior Achievement’s first 5K for JA is scheduled for Oct. 31.

The morning will start with a free 1-mile fun run for kids ages 14 and younger at 8 a.m. at the City Park School gym, next to the Dalton post office. Kids may wear costumes and a prize will be awarded for the best costume. A registration form signed by a guardian or parent is required for all participants in this event.

The 5K Run/Walk for Education will begin at 9 a.m., also at City Park. Entry fee for this race is $15 ($10 for 14 and younger) or $25 for a family. All participants will receive goodie bags and the school with the most participants will receive a trophy.

Awards will be given for top overall male and female, as well as overall masters (40 and older) male and female. Age divisions for the race are 1-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and older. The race will be managed by the Carpet Capital Running Club and JA board chair Jason Hopkins will serve as race director.
