Jackson P. Turner, chairman of Alliance Bancshares Inc., and Alliance National Bank announced that veteran banker Andrew K. Walker has joined the holding company as vice chairman and president/CEO and the bank as vice chairman and CEO.
Walker follows Charles Allgood, who recently retired from those positions. Allgood had been with the bank since its inception in 1999.
“We appreciate all that Charles has done for our bank and his exemplary service in our community,” Turner said.
During Walker’s 34-year banking career, he has served as a president and CEO for more than 24 of those years.
“We are delighted to have someone of Andy’s experience and character join our team,” Turner said.
Walker began his career in Gainesville where he later led Georgia First Bank for 11 years. Walker chartered two new banks in Forsyth County. In 1998, he was an organizer for First National Bank of Johns Creek, which several years later sold to Main Street Bank, now owned by BB&T. Five years later, he organized the First National Bank of Forsyth County, which sold to Buckhead Community Bancshares. He most recently worked there as director and regional president for the Forsyth and Hall units.
Walker is a cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia and Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He serves on the boards of the Georgia Bankers Association and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He has received honors and recognition for his civic activities including a Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Foundation, a Chairman’s Award from the Cumming/Forsyth Chamber of Commerce, Honorary Lifetime Foundation Trustee from Gainesville College, twice Community Volunteer of the Year from Brenau University and an American Cancer Society Excalibur Award.
Walker has a Westcott Fellowship Designation from the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation. He is a 1995 graduate of Leadership Georgia and a lay eucharistic minister in the Episcopal Church.
Walker is married to the former Janet Turner of Dalton. They have one son, Drew.
