The radio program “Christian Athletes with Loran Carter” debuts at 6:30 tonight on Today’s Christian Music AM-1530 WTTI.

The 30-minute weekly show is “dedicated to uplifting Christ through Christian athletes, coaches, cheerleaders, band members and all sports-related athletes who look for opportunities to stand up for the principles of Jesus Christ,” according to a release from WTTI.

Carter is a former Auburn University quarterback and team captain who also played for Dalton High School, where he later taught and coached. Current Catamounts coach Matt Land, also a Dalton and Auburn alum, is Carter’s first guest.

Here is a portion of what Land had to say: “Life rarely turns out as we thought it would. Sports aren’t any different. It may be fun to dream of the players we could be, but things do not always turn out as planned. Sometimes it’s hard to see, but looking back we realize it all worked for the best. I am glad for the things that are not as I had intended, because I would have missed a lot.”
