The Northwest Whitfield High School baseball team's Class 4A state playoffs game scheduled for Monday against Grady has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The game has been rescheduled to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bruins’ Richard S. Chumley Field in Tunnel Hill. It is the deciding third game in the two teams’ first-round three-game series, which started Friday with a doubleheader split.

The game originally was scheduled for Saturday, but inclement weather kept the teams from playing. The GHSA Constitution and Bylaws prohibits any athletic contests from taking place on Sundays, so the game had to be moved to Monday.

Grady, from Atlanta, finished fourth in Region 6, while Northwest won the Region 7 championship. The winner of the series faces Region 8 runners-up Stephens County, which swept its first round series on Friday against Alexander. According to, the series is scheduled to begin Wednesday.
