One dead, one injured in shooting

One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting at Las Delicias Bar at 511 E. Morris St., just before 1 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Dalton Police Department.

The suspect, Orlando Ramirez, 20, whose last known address was 209 Beulah Drive in Dalton, left the scene in a late 1990s model burgundy Honda Accord. Warrants have been taken out for his arrest for one count of homicide and two counts of aggravated assault, the release states.

Ramirez is 5’7” tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has brown eyes. 

Names of the victims have not yet been released by officials.

The injured victim was transported to Hamilton Medical Center in stable condition. 

The Dalton Police Department is being assisted in the search by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol. Anyone with information on the shooting or Ramirez is asked to call Detective Chris Tucker with the Dalton Police Department at (706) 278-9085, extension 165 or call 911.

    The Northwest Whitfield High School softball team didn't win the Region 7-4A title, but they like state titles more anyway.

    The Lady Bruins lost to region rival Heritage-Catoosa 6-4 on Saturday in the Class 4A state tournament at South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, but Northwest exploded for 12 runs in a 12-6 victory in the second game in the double-elimination tournament.
