Margaret Adams dies at 76

Murray teacher and coach was also political pioneer

— Margaret Adams, a longtime Chatsworth City Council member and Murray County coach and teacher, died Monday evening after an illness.

Adams, 76, served 37 years on the Chatsworth City Council. She was the first and only woman on the council until last year.

Adams worked in the Murray County School system for 32 years. She taught at Murray County Junior High as well as Murray County High School and coached tennis, basketball, softball and track and was the cheerleading sponsor. She was named coach of the year several times and coach of the year “state at large class AAA” by other coaches for the 1985-1986 school year.

Family members said a memorial service will be held later this week.
