Convenience store worker killed on Airport Road (Updated 1:55 p.m.)
Whitfield County sheriff's deputies discovered the dead body of a male clerk early this morning at the Kanku's Express at 3385 Airport Road after 911 received a call from a person who said they went into the store and saw the clerk on the floor, Sheriff Scott Chitwood said. The death is being investigated as a robbery/homicide.
Back-to-Back State Champs!
The Northwest Whitfield High School softball team didn't win the Region 7-4A title, but they like state titles more anyway.
The Lady Bruins lost to region rival Heritage-Catoosa 6-4 on Saturday in the Class 4A state tournament at South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, but Northwest exploded for 12 runs in a 12-6 victory in the second game in the double-elimination tournament.
