Financial planning for retirees offered at DSC

Certified Financial Planner, Sara C. “Skeeter” Pierce will lead two Lunch & Learn Financial Planning Institutes at Dalton State College in May.
Designed for individuals nearing retirement or recently retired, the material covered in both these events will address financial issues that are unique to this particular group.
Pierce will also discuss concerns about recent economic volatility and downturn and how this relates to people’s retirement planning.
Wealth Management Issues – Institute I will teach participants to better understand their investments and how to access them once they retire. They will also learn about liability and insurance in addition to titling, durable powers of attorney, and living wills.
Pierce will cover issues pertaining to qualified retirement plans and IRAs in Wealth Management Issues – Institute II. This session also covers matters of charitable gifting during life and after death and distribution of wealth to spouses and dependants.
Both institutes include lunch and will take place in the James E. Brown Center on the north end of the Dalton State College campus.
Institute I will be held Thursday, May 1, 12 noon-1:30 pm. Institute II will take place Thursday, May 15, 12 noon-1:30 pm.
