Small business classes offered at DSC
Planning and knowledge provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace, and this popular series of programs has helped launch hundreds of new businesses. Valuable recommendations, research ideas, and an overview of seen important areas of business operation are presented from a practical perspective. All classes meet at Dalton State College, James Brown Continuing Education Bldg., 550 College Dr., Dalton, GA. Tuesday, Aug. 19th, Starting/Marketing Your Business, 5:30-8:45 pm. Topics for discussion include the traits of successful entrepreneur, market research and advertising, legal structures, estimating start-up costs, cash flow projection, financing alternatives, failure factors, and business planning.
Thursday, Aug. 21st, Finding Money For Your Business, 6:00-8:00 pm. Learn how successful borrowers pick the right financing options and make their proposals attractive to funding sources. Topics include financing options such as bank loans, SBA loans, non-bank lenders, private investors, and the myths and realities of grant funding.
Tuesday, Aug. 26th, Managing By The Numbers, 6:00-8:00 pm. Take the mystery out of accounting by learning to read and understand basic financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement.
Thursday, Aug. 28th, Writing An Effective Business Plan, 6:00-8:00 pm. A business plan is critical to your business success; especially if you need a loan or an investor for your business. Learn what information is required and basic business plan format.
These programs are jointly sponsored by The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center and the U.S. Small Business Administration and offered through a cooperative agreement with Dalton State College.
