Dalton-based Shaw Industries received the first ever Vendor Green Steps Award from Sherwin-Williams earlier this month.
The award recognizes Shaw’s efforts in recycling post-consumer carpet, development of sustainable products and continuous improvements in energy conservation. The award was presented to Shaw’s national accounts team and environmental team including Floyd Kyzer, Don Travis, Rick Ramirez and John Bradshaw at the Sherwin-Williams 2008 sales meeting and vendor show.
“Shaw’s admirable and aggressive green efforts have set an industry standard for sustainability,” said Pete Sedlak, vice president of marketing and purchasing for Sherwin-Williams. “It was an honor to present Shaw with the first Vendor Green Steps Award. Sherwin-Williams is proud to partner with a company that is committed to doing the right thing by lessening the environmental footprint of their manufacturing processes and offering sustainable products to the consumer.”
Shaw has been working for years on innovative ways of reducing waste, improving manufacturing processes, preserving natural resources and offering eco-friendly products to the marketplace, said Kyzer, Shaw’s national account director.
“This award recognizes Shaw as the leader in sustainability and environmental stewardship,” Kyzer said. “We’ve come a long way in environmental development and it’s extremely gratifying when one of our customers recognizes the real environmental progress that Shaw has made.”
