Dalton State College’s volleyball team lost two more matches Saturday in Williamsburg, Ky., but the Roadrunners won their first sets of the season and in program history.
In the first match, versus the University of the Cumberlands, the hosts, Dalton State (0-4) lost 25-15, 22-25, 25-11, 26-24. In the second match, against Berea College, the Roadrunners fell 25-11, 17-25, 27-25, 25-16.
Dalton State coach Bruna Langner said in a school press release the two matches were the best play she’s seen from the team, which is the first to compete in athletics for the school since it relaunched athletics for the 2013-2014 school year. Langner also commended the Roadrunners’ Savannah Nelson for “blocking well and scoring a lot up the middle.”
Dalton State’s next match is Tuesday in Cleveland against Truett-McConnell for a 7 p.m. start.
