Roadrunners still rolling, win at Tennessee Temple

The Dalton State College men’s basketball team didn’t travel far to earn its 20th win of the year.

The Roadrunners earned their third straight win as they beat Tennessee Temple University 84-70 Tuesday night in Chattanooga.

Ricky Sears scored 16 points to lead the Roadrunners (20-2) while Sean Tate earned five of his 14 points at the free throw line.

Preston Earle and Demetrice Jacobs each added 13 points, while Ladaris Green helped with seven points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Ahead 36-29 at halftime, Dalton State broke away with a 10-2 run to begin the second half. The Roadrunners made 21 of 25 free throws to their opponents’ 14-for-23 performance.

Tennessee Temple (10-9) was led by Elliott Johnson, who scored a game-high 18 points, while Weedlins Beauvil notched 14 points.

Jade Patrick and Hampton Mack each had 10 points and Jalen Smith added eight points and 10 rebounds for Tennessee Temple.

Dalton State’s next game is Saturday in Waleska against Reinhardt University, which the Roadrunners beat 98-75 earlier this month.
