Langner pleased with DSC volley after win

Dalton State College’s women’s volleyball team beat Martin Methodist 3-2 in best-of-five play Friday night at the Mack Gaston Community Center in Dalton.

Roadrunners coach Bruna Langner called the 21-25, 25-13, 23-25, 25-22, 17-15 victory her team’s best match of its inaugural season, according to a press release from Dalton State. The Roadrunners improved to 5-10, while Martin Methodist of Pulaski, Tenn., dropped to 3-16.

“We were down, but we fought hard,” Langner said in the release. “We got to see everyone on the team play tonight and we needed every single girl.”

The fifth set was close all the way, and the Roadrunners got to 15 first but didn’t secure the needed two-point margin until after Martin Methodist rallied to tie it at 15-all.

Dalton State returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon.
