Dalton State volleyball closes out the season with 10th victory

Dalton State College’s women’s volleyball team completed its inaugural season with a straight-sets victory at Tennessee Temple University on Tuesday night in Chattanooga.

The Roadrunners won 25-11, 25-17, 25-12 to finish with a 10-14 record. Coach Bruna Langner called Dalton State’s victory “a great way to end the season,” according to a release from the school.

“It’s a great momentum-builder to go into a conference schedule beginning next season,” she added.

Dalton State is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics but has been unable to secure conference membership so far and is fielding non-conference schedules for all sports during the 2013-2014 school year.

The school applied for membership to the Southern States Athletic Conference earlier this year but was denied membership.

Athletic director Derek Waugh said the school is looking at options, including reapplying to the SSAC.
