Last-second overtime basket keeps Roadrunners a perfect 3-0 in basketball

Ricky Sears’ buzzer-beating shot kept Dalton State College’s men’s basketball team undefeated with a 97-95 overtime win Tuesday night at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C.

The Roadrunners (3-0) held an 81-78 lead with just seconds remaining in regulation time when the Warriors’ Terrance Hutchins made a 3-pointer to tie the game. In overtime, Southern Wesleyan (1-2) led 92-90 when Sears made a 3-pointer to give Dalton State the lead with 42 seconds remaining.

Southern Wesleyan tied the game with a free throw, and the two teams traded trips to the foul line for their next two points, setting up Dalton State’s final possession with five seconds remaining.
