— The Dalton State College men’s basketball team led by five at halftime and by as many as 14 in the second half as the Roadrunners rolled to their 11th victory in 12 games with a 76-68 win Saturday night at Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tenn.

Dalton State senior guard Ricky Sears led the way with 25 points.

“My coaches and I were just sitting here talking, and we were shocked that Ricky had 25 points,” Roadrunners head coach Tony Ingle said. “We take what the opponents give us, and we had some isolations with Ricky several times.”

Demetrice Jacobs added 19 points after scoring just four in the Roadrunners’ win against Southern Polytechnic State on Tuesday. Jacobs never returned to the floor in the second half against Southern Polytechnic, and Ingle said after the game that Jacobs wasn’t injured.

“D.J. was really the X-factor tonight, which was really good to see,” Ingle said. “He came up with some big rebounds and big shots at the right time.”

Dalton State next plays Dec. 17 in the trade center against Southern Wesleyan University.
