Special guest on way for Dalton HM weekend

Chris Anderson, National Director of Fellowship of Christian Athletes En-durance Ministries Institute, will be in Dalton in conjunction with this weekend’s Dalton Half Marathon and Run for God.

Anderson has a long history as a runner, swimmer and tri-athlete, but currently focuses his attention on running. He served as a member of the startup board for Team FCA Endurance and was called as the ministry’s first full-time missionary in 2007.

Chris is coming to Dalton to teach how to share Christian faith with the endurance world. The training will be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday at Grove Level Baptist Church, located at 2802 Cleveland Highway in Dalton. The registration cost of $40 includes lunch and all training materials.

“I’m looking forward to training runners to lead others to Jesus during this special time together,” Anderson said. “It’s amazing how our faith prepares us for endurance races both on and off the race route. I want to share my experience with others and assist them in learning how to bring new meaning to other runners.”

Following the training, Anderson will speak at the Dalton Half Marathon’s Health and Fitness Expo and Pasta Party from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center. Attendance at this event is free; however, tickets are required for the meal.

Said Mitchell Hollis of Run for God, “We are excited to have Chris Anderson coming to Dalton for this special weekend. There are so many parallels between the endurance of a race and the endurance of one’s faith and we’re looking forward to hearing what God wants Chris to share with our community.”

Training program is limited to no more than 60 participants. Contact Hollis at (706) 463-1000.
