Power outage closes Dalton Middle early (Updated 6:15 p.m.)

Cougar Carnival rescheduled

Dalton Middle School students were dismissed at 1:15 p.m. on Friday due to a power outage that affected the entire campus. School officials and Dalton Utilities staff investigated the cause.

Students were dismissed for the day because the outage was not expected to be immediately repaired.

Students and staff will be notified on Monday regarding whether Dalton Middle School will be open on Tuesday after the Labor Day holiday.

The outage affected the school’s Cougar Carnival event scheduled for the full day. Principal Brian Suits said Cougar Carnival is rescheduled for next Friday, Sept. 6.

“We’re very disappointed that our students, staff and supporting community of volunteers were not able to fully enjoy Cougar Carnival today,” Suits said. “We want our students to be able to participate in all of the scheduled activities and we let them know as we dismissed that it is rescheduled for next Friday.”
