Dalton Daily Citizen

DALTON — Heather Boyd, daughter of Charles and Danyell Boyd of Tunnel Hill; Stephanie Kinsey Cooley, daughter of Mike and MaryEllen Kinsey of Cohutta; and Leland Dantzler, son of Jean Dantzler and the late Danny Dantzler of Dalton were named to the dean’s list with honors at Lee University for the fall 2009 semester. Students with a grade point average of 3.9 or higher are named to the list.

Sydnee Bowman of Dalton, daughter of Bryan and Lavonne Cochran, was named to the dean’s list at Lee. Students with a grade point average of 3.7 or higher are named to the list.

• Dalton residents Bond Ragsdale and Alex Tucker were named to the faculty recognition list at the middle school at the McCallie School in Chattanooga for the fall 2009 term. Teachers recommend students for placement on the list.

• Jacob Darnell Davis of Dalton has been named to the Young Harris College dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester. Students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or better are eligible to be named to the dean’s list.

Davis, a freshman at Young Harris, is a graduate of Gordon Central High School.

• Five Whitfield County students will perform with the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Youth Orchestras on March 1 at Brainerd Baptist Church at 300 Brookfield Ave. in Chattanooga.

Performing with the orchestras will be Erik Morton, playing percussion, Dalton High School: Nathan Rich, playing percussion, Dalton High School; Jennifer Hollis, playing trombone,  Northwest Whitfield High School; Joshua Newby, playing trumpet, Dalton Middle School; and Joel Wilkinson, playing violin, home schooled.

• The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga named the following local students to its dean’s list for the fall of 2009: Mona Ahmad, Dalton; Jacinta Nicole Clark, Dalton; John Bennett Downing, Dalton: Gregory Alan Grammer, Dalton; Jeffery Allen Green, Dalton; Miriam Harrison, Dalton; Bridget Cheyenne Kidwell, Cohutta; Patrick Hunter Meyer, Cohutta; Adam Coleman Miller, Cohutta; Anders Christian Ravenholt, Dalton; Dustin Lee Tate, Rocky Face; Shelley Loree Taylor, Cohutta; Cynthia Fry Tidwell, Dalton; and Olivia Nickall Trotter, Dalton.

The following local students graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the fall of 2009: Wendy Elaine Brownfield, Tunnel Hill, bachelor of science in Middle Grades Education: Mathematics; Allison Maria Miller, Rocky Face, bachelor of science in Human Ecology: Food and Nutrition; and Olivia Nickall Trotter, Dalton, bachelor of science in Psychology.

• The following local students were named to the North Georgia College & State University president’s list for the fall of 2009: Kayla Jordan Flood, Chatsworth; Lesley Diane Pulliam, Chatsworth; Cody Alan Carlson, Rocky Face; and Aaron Michael Knox, Rocky Face.

• The following local student was named to the Georgia College & State University president’s list for the fall of 2009: Paige Herring, Dalton.

The following local students were named to the Georgia College & State University dean’s list for the fall of 2009: Lauren Lawson, Dalton; Laura Leon, Dalton; and Stephanie Susen, Dalton.

• Four Whitfield County students were among the 349 students named to the Reinhardt College dean’s list for fall semester 2009. From Dalton are Anna Dollar, Hannah Mayo and Charli Merk. From Tunnel Hill is Judith Ross.

A Reinhardt dean’s list student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average based on successful completion of a minimum of 12 semester credits with no grade less than a B.

• Rodney H. Lock of Dalton was named to the dean’s list at Georgia Southwestern State University for achieving at least a 3.5 grade point average for the fall 2009 semester while taking 15 hours of course work. Ann V. Malerbi of Dalton was named to the academic achievement list at GSW for enrolling in three to 14 hours of course work and achieving at least a 3.5 grade point average.
