Local bluegrass festival planned

The sounds of bluegrass will be heard in Whitfield County during the Conasauga Bluegrass Festival on May 31 and June 1.
The event will be held at 3228 River Road Northeast in Dalton. Music begins Saturday at 11 a.m. On Sunday, music begins and noon and ends at 6 p.m.
Saturday admission is $20, while children 10 and younger will be admitted free with a paying adult. The lineup includes J. Max McKee, The Lewis Family, The Raven Welch Band and Raymond Fairchild.
Sunday admission is $15, while children 10 and younger will be admitted free with a paying adult. Featured artists include All For Jesus, Garrett Arb and Terry Greene and Hard Timez.
Open mic and jamming begins at noon. A “Best Performance” trophy will be awarded by the audience to the top performer. Musicians who want to participate in the open mic portion should call (706) 259-3800, (706) 463-3318 or (706) 259-2850.
The festival will be hosted by Otis Head and Don Poteet. Concessions will be available. Lawn chairs are permitted. Coolers, drugs and alcohol are not allowed.
