Environmental film festival planned for Atlanta

ATLANTA — The largest environmental film festival in North America is coming to Atlanta! Join Georgia ForestWatch (GFW), the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (UCR) and the Georgia River Network (GRN) as they host the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival Tour at the Tara Theater in Atlanta, Wednesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 3, 2008.

The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival Tour brings together award-winning environmental films in a spirit of inspiration and education. Follow the life cycle of a paper cup or the journey of two kayakers on a road trip from Alaska to Argentina -- there’s something for everyone, adults and children alike, in these delightful and informative films.

Each night offers a different program of six to seven films of varying lengths, concluding with a local interest piece. Doors are at 6:30pm, and the films will run from 7pm to 9pm each night. Tickets are $10 per person, per night; advance tickets are now on sale at www.chattahoochee.org and will be sold at the door based on availability. All advance purchased tickets will be entered into a special drawing thanks to Patagonia, Presenting Sponsor for The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival on tour.

Georgia ForestWatch for twenty years has worked to preserve, protect, and restore Georgia’s 865,000 acres of national forests (see www.gafw.org). The Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is a 4,600-member, nonprofit organization working to protect and preserve the Chattahoochee River watershed for the people, fish and wildlife that depend upon it (see www.chattahoochee.org).
