A day to honor mothers
By Gary Mimbs
On this Mother’s Day we come to honor and show our appreciation for all mothers. Each mother is special and I believe that if God created anything better than a mother, he kept it for himself. My mother lives in another town and will probably never read this but I want to honor her and all mothers today.
Mothers are some of the hardest-working people ever created even though they are suppose to be the “weaker sex.” Many mothers work a job outside of the home and then come home to cook, clean, wash the clothes, and help with homework. Many times they do this without the help of a husband. Men, we should be ashamed if we don’t help our wives with the work load of the family. God isn’t pleased when we allow the mother to get worn out while we “take it easy.”
I heard on the radio that if a mother was paid just according to all of the tasks that she performs in the home she should earn $146,000 a year. I can believe it and know that my wife, the mother of our children, is worth every penny and more. The amazing thing is that she settles for just a smile, or a hug or a kind word of praise from her kids and me.
Many times the mother has to help raise her husband as well as her kids. Many men have never grown up and grasped the mantle of responsibility that they should have in the home. Also today many grown kids refuse to grow up and stand on their own two feet.Thank God for mothers who look past the faults of others and continue to give out the special love that only a mother can give.
Also, mothers are many times the spiritual anchor of the family. They make sure that the kids are in church and they are the ones who read Bible stores to the children. Once again men, we should be ashamed if we allow this to happen. God has called MEN to be the spiritual leader in the home. I thank God for godly mothers who step into the role when the man isn’t doing it, but that wasn’t God’s plan for the family. The mother and father should be working together in the spiritual development of the family.
To all mothers today I say thank you. This world would be in BIG trouble if it was run by just men. There is an old saying that “behind every successful man there is a woman.”
For me there are two — my mother and my wife. I thank God for both of them.
