The holidays mark a special time of year at the Creative Arts Guild. This year is no different with a host of holiday offerings featuring music, dance, theatre, and exhibitions.
In addition to the number of activities planned for the holidays, the Guild will be celebrating its 45th anniversary in November with a special event.
The arrival of fall is is felt with the exhibit in the Guild’s main gallery featuring local artist Paula Plott Gregg. Patrons are surrounded by nature’s offerings as portrayed through her work with strong suggestions and realistic imagery of flora and fauna.
The addition of branches and moss throughout the gallery coupled with a host of whimsical Santas and witches drum up warm feelings associated with the holiday season.
Gallery 111 spotlights Guild Instructor Bradley Wilson with a companion exhibit featuring rich and colorful animals, portraits, and landscapes. Wilson’s textural pieces invite the viewer to inspect his technique while enjoying his simple compositions.
Sculptor K.C Linn, From Murfreesboro, Tenn., will be our November Gallery 111 artist.
The music department is gearing up for three special Noon Arts presentations.
On Oct. 16 singer/songwriter Noah Collins brings his special style of music featuring compositions from his latest album; November and December Noon Arts will feature guest artists and include holiday music.
Noon Arts programs begin at noon held every third Thursday of the month, and guests may bring a lunch or order a lunch in advance through the Guild.
“The Noon Arts Series has provided many local musicians a great opportunity to perform in an intimate setting affording musician and guest a more personal connection with the art of music,” said music director Lisa Elders,
Dancers of the Guild’s Ballet Dalton, instructors, and volunteers are putting in hundreds of hours as Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale “The Snow Queen” production approaches.
This year performances will be on Nov. 20-23 at the Dalton High School theater.
Hundreds of students rehearse for hours, and the rich costumes, and intriguing sets all come together in a visual feast for attendees at this growing Dalton holiday tradition. Tickets will be available on Nov. 3.
To commemorate “The Snow Queen,” a special 2008 holiday ornament created by pewter artist Karen Dunigan will be available for sale and helps to offset the cost of the production.
“The special ornament sale, our sponsors and volunteers help us offer free tickets to non-profit organizations in our community,” said Jesse Bonanno, dance director. “We are proud to be able to have them attend and be a part of ‘The Snow Queen’ experience,” she said.
The Guild’s theater director, Jackie Daniels, will be conducting theater workshops through a partnership with Dalton State College and is directing a play, “Angel Street,” at Dalton Little Theatre this holiday season. Ms. Daniel’s workshops and Guild ongoing theatre classes are a way for actors of all ages to hone their acting, auditioning, and theater knowledge and skills.
