Debutantes attend 24th annual gala event

The Farm provided a festive setting for the 24th annual Dalton Cotillion Ball on July 16. Thirty-one young ladies were presented to their families, friends and the board of directors in a formal ceremony. Each debutante was attired in a white evening gown and carried a bouquet of roses. Mr. and Mrs. James Terrell Turberville introduced each debutante. The debutantes were commended for their studies, activities, and community service work at Friendship House this year. Mrs. Ann Almond Pope provided music for the presentation. Brenda Albertson of Brenda’s Photography directed the photography for the evening and John Patrick served as the videographer. Following the presentation, the ladies danced a grand waltz with their presenters and escorts.

The debutantes joined their families and friends for a formal seated dinner following the waltz. Flowers adorned the table of the Board of Directors. Table arrangements of garden statuaries embracing white roses adorned the debutantes’ tables. The tables featured a framed portrait of each debutante. The framed portraits were given to the debutantes in remembrance of the evening. The dinner was followed by dancing to the music of The Malemen.

Heather Kay Brewer was presented by her father. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Marion Brewer and the sister of Tonya Craig and April Brewer. Miss Brewer is majoring in Early Childhood Education at Dalton State College. This summer she has participated in dance and is a Volunteer Youth Leader at First Presbyterian Church. Her escort for the evening was Mr. Deven Ray Bradford. Mr. Bradford who is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Ray Bradford is attending Georgia North Western where he is pursuing a Criminal Justice major.

Miss Duffie is majoring in Human Movement Performance and was named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
