On Saturday the Creative Arts Guild will host a celebration of its 50th anniversary with a gala that features an evening filled with food catered by On the List from Chattanooga, a compelling timeline exhibit in the Jonas Performance Hall followed by dancing to the sounds of the Atlanta band Cashmere.
“The 50th anniversary is special not only because it marks a milestone in the Guild’s history but it marks 50 years of serving as a catalyst for the arts in Northwest Georgia,” said Guild Executive Director Terry Tomasello
“The 40th Anniversary Gala was such a great event and we hope those that attended will join us as well as others in celebrating our 50th. This event will be an opportunity for those of us that grew up in Dalton to those of us that are transplants to share the many successes through the years of the Guild plus, it’s going to be a great party,” Guild Event Director Leanne Lawson said.
“As we began to pull together the material for the 50th anniversary exhibit, we realized that there were so many stories that make up the Guild’s history. The exhibit offers a wonderful pictorial narrative of many people and businesses who have given so generously of their time, resources and talents to make this such a special place,” Tomasello said.
The 50th Gala attendees will enjoy a menu that includes assorted cheeses and fruit with bread and crackers, striped cucumbers stuffed with herb crème topped with filet, shrimp and avocado civeche and chipotle bacon-wrapped scallops as appetizers followed by the main meal that includes caprese salad, a beef tenderloin carving station, teriyaki sesame salmon, grilled asparagus and smoked gouda macoroni and cheese. Dinner concludes with an assortment of desserts.
Dining and entertainment will be on the Spigel Pavilion. Organizers have worked with Chattanooga Tent Co. and the pavilion will be enclosed and air conditioned. Dalton Utilities is a sponsor and assisting the Guild in making sure the concourse is cooled.
The evening festivities continue with the eclectic sounds of Cashmere. Formed in Atlanta, this group of talented musicians has united from all over the nation, from Florida, New York, North Carolina as well as the “Motor City,” Detroit, working with headline performers that include Keith Sweat, OutKast, Usher, Anita Baker, Jennifer Holiday and Tyler Perry.
The group’s genres range from classical to country and everything in between, rhythm and blues, funk, light rock, big band, hip-hop and jazz.
Tickets for the event are $75 per person.Contact Lawson at (706) 217-6677 or firstname.lastname@example.org to make a reservation or for questions.
