— • Friends are welcome at the Calvary Baptist Church fellowship hall on the first Saturday of each month from 3 to 5 p.m. You don’t have to be a member of the church to attend.



• A Spring Fling will be held at Five Springs United Methodist Church at 2823 Five Springs Road in Dalton on Saturday, April 13, from 5 to 9 p.m. Food provided by the Outreach Committee and the church family will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. There will also be music, door prizes, face painting and gospel singing by performers such as the 2x2 Quartet, Providence Ministries Choir, Lisa and Chloe Gray, Katie Ellison, Jane and Kerry Cowan, and others. • Hopewell Baptist Church of Cohutta will have singing today at 6 p.m. The group Thankful will participate. The pastor is John Tudor. Everyone is welcome.



• Liberty Baptist Church will sell lunch plates on Friday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $7, and the plates include barbecue chicken, pinto beans, cornbread, coleslaw, mashed potatoes and dessert. • Mountain Ridge Baptist Church will kick off the annual Men’s Day weekend with a breakfast today at 8 a.m. The speaker will be Deacon Herman Williams. The church will celebrate Men’s Day on Sunday. The 11 a.m. speaker will be Jerry D. Jones, pastor of Mountain Ridge Baptist Church. The 3 p.m. guest speaker will be the Rev. Carey N. Ingram of Lovejoy Baptist Church of Rome. Lunch will be served after the morning service. The church is at 1401 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.



• The April calendar for New Life Baptist Church, on Old Grade Road in Dalton, is: today and Saturday, April 20, meet at the church at 10 a.m. for soul-winning visitation, Matt Higdon, director; Sunday, April 7, at 5:30 p.m., Emmaus Road will sing; Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m., Ladies Missionary Fellowship meeting; Sunday, April 14, at 5:30 p.m., missionary to southern Sudan, Jeremy Holloway, will speak; Saturday, April 20, at 8 a.m., golf tournament at Indian Trace Golf Course, proceeds to help finance a mission trip to Africa this summer (for more information, call Ms. Daves at 706-264-5859 or Mr. Cox at 706-483-8705); Sunday, April 21, at 5:30 p.m., the youth of the church will be in charge of the evening worship service. The clothes closet, in the church basement, is open on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All those in need are welcome.

 

• Oliver’s Barn hosts a gospel singing every Friday at 6 p.m. The barn is at 2144 Waring Road in Dalton. For information or directions, call Christina Oliver at (706) 618-1807. There is no cost to attend. Everyone is welcome.



• Riverbend Church of Christ operates a benevolence house for the public of Northwest Georgia. The church’s goal is to assist families in need by offering necessities such as clothing (men, women and children), shoes and household items. Services are free and available to anyone in need. It is in the small white house just south of the church building at 2218 S. Riverbend Road in Dalton. The house is open every Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; other times must be by appointment. • True Gospel Pentecostal Church at 225 S. Henderson St. in Dalton invites the public on Sunday at 4 p.m. for a service. The guest preacher is Bishop Bennie Tibbs, pastor of Holy Gospel Temple on Tarver Street in Dalton. The program is sponsored by the Women’s Fellowship Ministry of True Gospel Church. The ministry president, Minister Glenda Graham, and church pastor, Suffragan Bishop Reuben Graham Sr., welcome the public to attend.



• Valley Brook Church of God at 1474 Mineral Springs Road in Dalton will have its annual spring yard sale on Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Tables are available to rent for $10. For more information, call (706) 629-3922 or (706) 980-9156.



• Whitfield Baptist in Dalton hosts a spring golf tournament Tuesday morning at Fields Ferry Golf Course in Calhoun. Proceeds go to the Coffey family’s fund as this family of seven moves to the mission fields of South Africa in June.
