Local restaurants support the Creative Arts Guild’s Festival

Submitted by the Creative Arts Guild

— The Creative Arts Guild’s annual Festival is fast approaching but not without the help of local businesses and volunteers.

Festival is volunteer-driven and this year is no exception. Kicking off with the Patron Party and Taste of Dalton on Friday, Sept. 20, until it ends on Sunday at 6 p.m., volunteers make it happen.

The Patron Party and Taste of Dalton is a favorite Festival event. It is a ticketed event offering patrons the opportunity to meet this year’s judge, Atlanta artist Susan Cofer, and many of the indoor exhibiting artists while sampling Dalton’s finest culinary offerings.

“It’s a great pairing — art and food! What more could any of us wish for and two of our favorites,”  event director Leanne Lawson said.

This year’s Taste of Dalton participants include the Dalton Golf & Country Club, The Filling Station, The Farm, Eagle Rock North Distributing, The Dalton Depot, Irene’s Cake and Candy, Lisa’s Cafe and Catering, Coffee Train Cafe, Renz Nest and CAG First Friday Favorites.

Patron Party Chair Angela Gordy said, “We are excited to have a couple of new restaurants this year, Lisa’s Cafe and Catering and Coffee Train Cafe, as well as our old favorites. Our hope is that Guild patrons will in turn support these restaurants throughout the year. The Taste of Dalton has become one of our community’s favorite annual events and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”

This year, Indoor Patron Sale Chair Sue Woodward has put together a great group of volunteers. They will work at the Patron Party and throughout the weekend handling sales and inquiries about the exhibit and assist with general information.

“Festival 2013 will be the culminating event this year as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Guild. We are again humbled by the generosity of our volunteers and businesses that have made this institution and Festival so great for the past five decades,” Guild Executive Director Terry Tomasello said.

Shaw Industries sponsors the Indoor Exhibition each year. Other lead sponsors include Mohawk Industries, Engineered Floors, Reliable Product Transport (RPT Inc.), Textile Rubber, Community Foundation of Northwest Georgia, Wells Fargo, city of Dalton, Ken and Myra White, Meike De Clerck Hanssens, Gregg and Sandra Sims, Norris and Billie Little, Robert T. Webb, the Harry and Henry Saul Foundation, David and Cindy McCreery, and Dottie Boring.

The Patron Party and Taste of Dalton begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, with individual tickets priced at $55. Come by the Guild to purchase your tickets or call (706) 217-6677 to RSVP and pay at the door.
