Dalton State College “Concerts on Campus” series presents The Brosseau-Tacchia Duo on cello and piano in a free recital Wednesday evening.
According to Ellie Jenkins, assistant professor of music at DSC, the husband and wife team of Michele Brosseau-Tacchia and Michael Tacchia have performed for nearly 40 years and are acknowledged as one of the premier cello/piano duos devoting themselves to in-depth interpretations of music spanning the Baroque period to the 21st century.
The pair pursued parallel educational paths at California State University, San Bernardino; the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston; San Diego State University; and The Vienna International Music Center in Austria.
Michele Tacchia served as principal cellist of the CSUSB Chamber Orchestra for four years and was a cellist with the San Bernardino Symphony for more than 20 years. She is the conductor of the California State University Chamber Orchestra and founded a youth orchestra, “Symphonie Jeunesse,” comprised of middle and high school age students which she has directed for five years. The orchestra recently performed with “American Idol” star David Archuleta.
Michael Tacchia is currently pianist with the San Bernardino Symphony and has performed numerous concertos with various orchestras. He most recently appeared as soloist in George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” and also trains children’s voices to perform with the symphony. He is much in demand as a soloist and chamber musician and also serves as director of choral music with the San Bernardino City Unified School District.
The duo has performed throughout Europe and the United States and recently made their New York City debut in Merkin Hall.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Goodroe Auditorium of Gignilliat Memorial Hall at DSC. For more information, contact Jenkins at (706) 272-2528.
