Celebrate veterans Nov. 6 and 11 at Calhoun’s GEM

Submitted by the GEM Theatre

— Veterans Day is upon us and Calhoun’s GEM Theatre invites you to join them in saluting our troops and honoring our veterans.

On Tuesday, Nov.  6 at 7 p.m., the GEM and Fox Theatre Institute are presenting “War Bonds: The Songs and Letters of World War II.” This cabaret is a sentimental musical journey filled with wartime memories and 22 nostalgic period tunes, creating a production that is a warm reminiscence. “War Bonds” tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.

On Sunday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m., the GEM and Harris Arts Center’s Big Band Series concludes with the Etowah Jazz Society. This group of talented area musicians performs a variety of music ranging from Big Band-era classics to Jazz standards to Broadway to Pop Hits. In celebration of Veterans Day, EJS is including more World War II and '40s-era tunes. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for GEM and HAC members, $8 for students and $5 for veterans and active military.

For tickets to these shows, call (706) 625-3132 or visit www.calhoungem.org or the GEM box office, which is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.
