Two Dalton runners have been verified as Georgia Road Race state record holders after participating in the 10th annual Eton Country Fair 4-Miler this past Saturday.
Holly Kimsey, 47, finished 30 minutes and 11 seconds to establish the state’s four-mile mark for women ages 45-49. Sarah Burnette, 8, set the mark for girls ages 8-9 with a time of 30:53.
Five other state records were set on the Eton course, which started and ended near the Wishing Well. Setting those marks were Gage Whited of Cloudland, 7-and-younger boys, 35:42; Benjamin LeBlanc of Powder Springs, 12-13 boys, 22:49; Beth Old of Marietta, 35-39 women, 25:26; Ron Mallory of Blairsville, 65-69 men, 28:22; and Jerry Cooper of Ellijay, 75-79 men, 41:01.
