Dalton's Lowery in top five of flight at GSGA tourney

— Dalton’s Ron Lowery opened with an 83 Wednesday and is tied for fourth place in his flight at the Georgia Super Senior Championship.

Lowery is competing in the second flight at the Georgia State Golf Association event. The 36-hole tournament, which finishes today, is being played at Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville. The course is playing to 6,137 yards and par 72.

Lowery is tied with Pine Mountain’s Dennis O’Brien and Savannah’s Michael Towson. The flight’s leader is Bob Beebe of Johns Creek, who shot a 76.

Johns Creek’s Don Marsh holds the overall lead after opening with a 69. The winner of last year’s tournament, Marsh holds a three-stroke lead over Bill Leonard of Dallas.
