All that she can be
Even if Sue King weren’t one of the area’s top female golfers at age 60, and even if she wasn’t recently in contention to win her flight at the Georgia State Golf Association’s Senior Women’s Match Play Championship, she would still need to have her story told.
But which story?
Northwest alum honored as outstanding student-athlete
Dalton’s Casey Truelove has excelled with the University of North Georgia’s women’s golf team, and her work in the classroom shows she believes the student aspect of her role is as important as the time on the golf course.
Golf: Watts shares third; Noll manages top-six finish again
Dalton’s David Noll Jr. held a one-stroke lead heading into Sunday’s final round at the Georgia Amateur Championship, but a difficult back nine took what would have been his third title away from him.
‘Difficult’ day, but Noll hangs on to lead entering final round
After the first three rounds of the Georgia Amateur Championship at Pinetree Country Club, not a single golfer is under par for the week.
Noll, Watts at the top
KENNESAW — For the past three years, Dalton’s David Noll Jr. and Augusta’s Lee Knox have alternated Georgia Amateur titles, with Knox taking the titles in 2010 and 2012 and Noll grabbing it 2011.

A new perspective
While there weren’t any residents of Murray or Whitfield counties competing in Monday’s U.S. Women’s Amateur qualifying tournament at Dalton Golf & Country Club, there were still local golfers on the course.

rowing up in Dalton, PGA Tour professional Blake Adams was a jock of all trades. He lived on sports, taking to the greens at Dalton Golf & Country Club and playing on the basketball courts and the baseball and football fields of the area.
Fairways and greens: Adams has a new venture; Women’s Am qualifier here
Area sports fans are familiar with local golfer David Noll Jr. An eight-time winner of the Georgia State Golf Association’s Men’s Player of the Year award and winner of the last six straight, Noll has made quite a name for himself around the state and the southeast with his play as part of state teams.
No offense to Noll, but in state golf terms, he is merely the male version of Augusta’s Laura Coble.
