Lt. Woody Davis, an emergency medical technician with Gordon EMS, has been awarded Gordon Hospital’s prestigious Extra Mile Award.
This special award was created by members of the hospital’s Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to deserving employees selected by the hospital’s directors.
“I have worked in public safety with Woody for over 15 years,” says Courtney Taylor, director of Gordon EMS, a service of Gordon Hospital. “He leads from the front in all he does and truly serves this community with a servant’s heart.”
Davis, who has been employed by Gordon EMS for almost 10 years, has worked in the EMT profession for 22 years. He was instrumental in developing Gordon Hospital’s new safety education tool, Mac the Medic, and works many hours teaching area children about ways to stay safe. Davis is also a member of the Gordon EMS Bike Team.
“I am completely shocked and honored to be receiving this award,” Davis says. “I’m sure there are more employees deserving of this, but with a humble heart and gratitude, I say thank you. I’m so happy to be a part of an excellent organization as Gordon Hospital.”
Davis resides in Calhoun with his wife, Donna. They have eight children: Brad, Nicole, Jacob, Michaela, Joshua, Jordan, Stephanie, and Jadyn. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling, Alabama football, and spending time with his family.
