Two very special awards were presented recently at Gordon Hospital.
According to Gordon Hospital President and CEO Pete Weber, the awards were presented during the hospital’s Spiritual Emphasis Week to recognize a physician and employee for best reflecting the hospital’s mission.
“Our mission of extending the Healing Ministry of Christ to all we serve is key to everything that we do here,” Weber explains. “It is for that reason that we are pleased to recognize one physician and one employee each year who live the hospital’s mission in both their work and personal lives.”
The first award, “His Touch In My Hands Award,” is given to an outstanding physician on the medical staff that best reflects the Spirit of God by blending spiritual and medical care giving. This year’s recipient is Pablo Balboa, MD of Gordon Urgent Care Calhoun.
“Dr. Balboa is well deserving of this award,” says Weber. “His patients and co-workers love him and – most of all – he doesn’t just honor our mission, he exemplifies it.”
The second award, “The George Seddon He Works Through Me Award,” is named after Gordon Hospital’s beloved long-time pharmacist George Seddon, who lost his battle with cancer in 2012. Seddon was an outstanding individual that lived God’s word and Gordon Hospital’s mission on a daily basis. This year’s honoree of this award is Pamela Puckett, RN, who serves Gordon Hospital in Outpatient Surgery.
“This award is given to an employee who best exemplifies the care-giving style of Jesus,” Weber explains. “Pam certainly does that on a daily basis and we are very blessed to have her here at Gordon Hospital.”
Dr. Balboa and Puckett were presented with glass awards and their names were placed on a recognition board hanging in the hospital’s Chapel of Hope.
