Hampton and Vess earn Extra Mile Award at Gordon Hospital

Submitted by Gordon Hospital

CALHOUN — Two Human Resources employees have been awarded Gordon Hospital’s prestigious Extra Mile Award.

This special award was created by members of the hospital’s Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to deserving employees selected by the hospital’s directors.

Human Resources Assistant Kathy Hampton and Recruiter Sharon Vess were presented the award jointly based on their outstanding attitudes and willingness to help others.

“Kathy and Sharon always go the extra mile for our employees and visitors,” says Jeni Hasselbrack, associate vice president of human resources for the hospital. “I appreciate their willingness to help with whatever needs to be done and to do it with smiles on their faces. They have a heart for our mission and we’re lucky to have them as a part of Gordon Hospital.”

Hampton, who has been employed by Gordon Hospital for 19 months, says she is honored to receive the recognition.

“I consider this a great honor – not only for the award, but just to be a part of Gordon Hospital,” she says. “I have never worked anywhere that truly cares as much for their employees as Gordon Hospital.”

Hampton, and her husband, Jeff, reside in Calhoun. They have two daughters, Tarah Gallman and Melanie Hampton; a son-in-law,  Kenny Gallman; and two grandchildren, Laina and Tucker. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, horseback riding, zip lining, reading and helping others.

Vess, who has been employed by Gordon Hospital for seven years, received an Associate of Science Degree in computer programming from Kennesaw State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational management from Covenant College.

“I am honored to have been chosen for this award,” Vess says. “It’s great to be a part of the wonderful Gordon Hospital team.”

She and her husband, Marty, reside in Sonoraville and are the parents of four children, Josh, Heather, Jake, and J.T. Vess. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, church activities, fishing, basketball, and working in her yard.
