Events for Oct. 8-20

 

The Erlanger schedule of classes and events for October 8-20 includes weight management information, sleep disorders screening and family planning classes.  Registration is required.  For more information on our classes and events, call Erlanger HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.  HealthLink Plus is a free membership program open to adults 18 and older.

 

Monday, October 8

Bariatric Support Group

5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center

Bariatric Support Group meetings are for individuals scheduled to have Bariatric surgery or who have already had weight loss surgery.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465) for more information.

 

Diabetes Education Class

1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center

This class will explore ways to manage diabetes.  Call 778-9400 for more information on physician referral and insurance reimbursement.

Breastfeeding

This class is designed to help participants make an informed choice about breastfeeding.  Learn breastfeeding basics, what to expect the first few weeks and special tips for success.  Concerns about returning to work/school will also be discussed.  This course is coordinated by a board-certified lactation consultant.  Registration fee is $30.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465) to register.

 

Wednesday, October 17

Sleep Disorders Screening

9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)

Do you always feel tired, even after a good night’s sleep?  You may suffer from a sleep disorder.  Find out more with this free screening.  Registration is required.  Call (423) 778-LINK (5465) to register.

 

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Seminar

6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)

Area residents who are overweight and /or with health problems related to obesity are invited to learn more about the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Center at Erlanger.  It is a free seminar and registration is required.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465) to register. Boot Camp for Dads

9:00 a.m. – Noon

Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)

This session is for first time dads who want to learn more about the upcoming new addition in their family.  Topics include diapering, feeding, why babies cry and how to handle it, how you can help the new mom, learn about postpartum depression and general hands-on infant care.  A new “veteran” dad is invited (along with his new baby) to the class for question and answer time.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465) to register.
