Gordon Hospital plans Ladies’ Night

CALHOUN — Get ready, ladies! It’s almost time for Ladies’ Night! Planned for Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Georgia Northwestern Technical College Conference Center, this highly-anticipated annual event for women will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with free admission.

“The main objective of Ladies’ Night is to increase awareness of health issues facing women today while having fun at the same time,” says Kim Brazell, marketing and public relations director at Gordon Hospital. “During the evening, free health screenings and assessments will be offered along with fun mini-spa stations and informational booths to emphasize the importance of these health issues.”

Professional Disc Jockey Donnie Holmes will be providing 1970’s and 1980’s music during the evening that is sure to bring back memories and provide a backdrop of energetic excitement. In addition, attendees will receive a special gift and be eligible for some amazing door prizes. A buffet of heavy hors d’oeuvers will be provided and will include a variety of items dipped in delicious dark chocolate.

“Dark chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70 percent may actually help lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk for heart disease,” Brazell explains. “Cocoa contains flavonols, a substance that may improve blood flow, and we will have plenty of it available at Ladies’ Night!”

While the event and all activities are free, registration is required due to space limitations. To register, please call 706-602-7800, ext. 2305.

“Gordon Hospital is pleased to partner this year with Anthony Gallman and the Georgia Northwestern Technical College Cosmetology Department,” Brazell adds. “Attendees will be pampered by hair stylists and manicurists-in-training, along with other stations offering women products and services to better themselves.”

October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and attendees at this year’s event will receive a wealth of information on this leading cause of cancer death among women of all races (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Attendees will also be able to have their blood pressure checked, as well as their blood sugar level and body fat content. Other health assessments will include cardiovascular risk, sleep, and strength testing.

Informational booths with free giveaways will include Body by Vi, Breathe Free smoking cessation program, Calhoun Medical Group, Calhoun OB/GYN, Color Me Beautiful, Gawdy Girls jewelry and accessories, Genesis Women’s Center, Gordon Adult and Pediatric Medical Associates, Gordon Home Care, Gordon Hospital Rehabilitation Services (including the Center for Wound Healing), the Gordon Hospital Women’s Diagnostic Center, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Natural Life Clinic Massage, Nerium Skin Care and MORE, North Georgia Cancer Care, Northwest Georgia OB/GYN, Northwest Georgia Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Northwest Georgia Surgical Associates, Owasa Skin Care and Medical Spa, Reliv, SandVenturesScapes Travel, The Baby Place at Gordon Hospital, and more.

“We are so excited about this event, which continues to get bigger and better every year,” Brazell says. “So grab your girlfriends and get registered today for Ladies’ Night!”
