Adventist Health System is proud to announce that Gordon Hospital’s chief hospitalist, Brent Box, was selected by the American College of Physicians as a 2013 Top Hospitalist.
Box was recognized for this honor by senior leadership and his peers at the Adventist Health System Annual ED Physician/Hospitalist Conference on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Orlando, Fla.
Box was chosen by the American College of Physicians because he has distinguished himself in areas including patient safety, community involvement, clinical skills, quality improvement, leadership and teaching. As the chief hospitalist, he has established a premier hospitalist program at Gordon Hospital that is regarded by Adventist Health System as an ideal model.
Nominated by Carlene Jamerson, senior vice president and chief clinical officer for Adventist Health System, Box was one of only 10 hospitalists across the country chosen for this honor.
“Dr. Box’s medical, clinical and overall leadership have been instrumental in Gordon Hospital’s performance,” said Jamerson. “He leads by example and personally works with each hospitalist on aspects of quality, patient experience and physician communication.”
Upon accepting the award, Box said he was honored, but shared the accolade with his team.
“Gordon Hospital is a team just like we are an Adventist Health System team,” he said. “It is through a group effort that we were able to accomplish this.”
Box will also be recognized in the American College of Physicians journal ACP Hospitalist’s 6th annual Top Hospitalists issue.
