Get ready, ladies! It’s almost time for Gordon Hospital’s 7th Annual Ladies’ Night!
Planned for Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex, 7494 Fairmount Highway, this highly-anticipated event for women will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with free admission.
“The main objective of Ladies’ Night is to increase awareness of health issues facing women today while having fun at the same time,” says Kim Brazell, marketing and public relations director at Gordon Hospital. “During the evening, free health screenings and assessments will be offered along with fun mini-spa stations and informational booths to emphasize the importance of these health issues.”
Professional Disc Jockey Donnie Holmes will be providing 1970s and 1980s music during the evening that is sure to bring back memories and provide a backdrop of energetic excitement. A buffet of heavy hors d’oeuvers will be provided and will include a variety of items dipped in delicious dark chocolate. In addition, attendees will receive a special gift and be eligible for door prizes.
“Dark chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70 percent may actually help lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk for heart disease,” Brazell explains. “Cocoa contains flavonols, a substance that may improve blood flow, and we will have plenty of it available at Ladies’ Night!”
The event and all activities are free and registration is not required.
October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and attendees at this year’s event will receive a wealth of information on this leading cause of cancer death among women of all races (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Attendees will also be able to have their blood pressure checked and learned about their body fat content. Other health assessments will include cardiovascular risk, sleep, and strength testing.
The event will include dozens of informational booths with free giveaways.
“We are so excited about this event, which continues to get bigger and better every year,” Brazell says. “So grab your girlfriends and come on out for Ladies’ Night!”
