ATLANTA – Dr. Rhonda Medows, Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) Commissioner, announced today the promotion of Gertrude “Trudie” Nacin as the Deputy Director of the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP).
“Mrs. Nacin has very strong operational skills combined with a diplomatic approach in delicate situations,” said Nancy Goldstein, SHBP Director. “She is a leader and very well respected by her large staff. I look forward to her growth as she takes on more responsibilities.”
As Deputy Director, Mrs. Nacin will work closely with the Director of SHBP to oversee the management of the day-to-day operations of the division. Under the instruction of the Director, she will provide oversight and support of all initiatives with the SHBP.
“Trudie has demonstrated her leadership and understanding of SHBP’s long-term strategy throughout her tenure with the department,” said Dr. Medows. “The knowledge that she brings in her new role will help us reach our goal of providing the most innovative health care benefit options.”
Mrs. Nacin has been with DCH for seven years. Most recently, she was the Director of Operations of the SHBP where she managed all eligibility and employer services functions for the nearly 680,000 state employees, teachers retirees and dependents who are covered under the plan. She set operational policies and procedures to enforce health plan regulations. She also created and staffed an eligibility and customer service call center.
