New Dedicated Breast MRI Installed at Memorial



CHATTANOOGA – Memorial Health Care System has installed a new specially designed, Dedicated Breast MRI in the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center at Memorial.

This latest technology becomes part of a remarkable women’s care center that already treats more than half the breast cancer patients in Chattanooga with an exceptional team of cancer specialists in diagnostic imaging; medical, surgical and radiation oncology; pathology, plastic surgery and support services.

“Memorial continues to lead the way in cancer care and diagnostic imaging capabilities,” said Deb Moore, Interim CEO of Memorial Health Care System. “Thanks to the support of the physicians, staff, and community, the Memorial Foundation fundraising campaigns have made it possible for us to take giant steps in reaching our goal to provide world class health care right here in Chattanooga.”

Breast MRI is a non-invasive method which renders the inside image of the breast without exposing the patient to any radiation. The Breast MRI is recommended for newly diagnosed women to evaluate the extent of disease prior to treatment planning and for screening of women proven to be at high risk for breast cancer.

Donations from individuals, corporations, and Memorial associates helped fund the construction of the 12,000 square-foot MaryEllen Locher Breast Center on the Memorial campus in 2007, and most recently, the purchase of this Dedicated Breast MRI.
