Malone’s hit is winner for Colts vs. Dalton

• At the LaGrange Invitational, Dalton’s girls and boys each split a pair of matches.

In a 5-0 win against Madison County, Dalton’s girls (6-1) picked up a 5-0 win with singles victories from No. 1 Courtney Morton, 6-0, 6-2, No. 2 Kara Pendley, 6-3, 6-3, and No. 3 Anna Grace Wilson, 6-4, 6-3, plus doubles wins from No. 1 Sheridan Fromm and Mackenzie Creswell, 6-2, 6-7, 1-0, and No. 2 Rachel Bakker and Caroline Calfee, 6-3, 7-5.

In a 3-2 loss to Holy Innocents’, No. 1 Morton won 2-6, 6-4, 1-0, while No. 2 Pendley won 6-4, 6-4. The other three matches were all lost on third-set tiebreakers.

In a 3-2 win against Morgan County, Dalton’s boys (6-1) won 3-2 with a singles victory from No. 1 Jacob Johnson, 6-2, 6-4, plus a doubles sweep by No. 1 B.J. Rowland and Thomas Delay, 6-2, 6-1, and No. 2 P.K. Bhatter and Will Alderman, 6-4, 7-5.

In a 3-2 loss to LaGrange, No. 2 Nathan Bryant won 6-2, 7-6 and No. 3 Sam Dyer won 6-1, 6-4.

• In late results from Thursday, Murray County’s boys and girls each split a pair of Region 7-2A matches, with both beating Chattooga 5-0 but losing to host Calhoun.

In the boys’ victory against Chattooga, singles winners were No. 1 Shawn Owens, 6-2, 6-2, No. 2 Jacob Thomason, 6-0, 6-0, and No. 3 Brandon Hensley, who accepted a forfeit. Doubles winners were Josh McLendon and Joseph Harry, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).

In the girls’ victory against Chattooga, singles winners were No. 1 Gabbie Bordelon, 6-0, 6-0, No. 2 Allison Jones, 6-0, 6-0, and No. 3 Trinity Rittenhouse, 6-2, 6-0. Doubles winners were No. 1 Erica Steelman and Julie Cole, 6-1, 6-0, and No. 2 Kailey Webb and Chloe Brown, 6-0, 6-0.

Murray County’s girls (5-3, 2-1) lost 3-2 to Calhoun, getting singles wins from No. 1 Bordelon, 6-0, 7-6 (7-4), and No. 2 Jones, 7-5, 6-3. Murray County’s boys (2-6, 1-2) lost 5-0 to Calhoun.
