Couple rescued after treading water for 14 hours off Florida coast

A group of off-duty sheriff’s officers on a morning fishing trip near Fort Lauderdale, Fla., rescued a couple who had been treading water all night after falling off their boat near Key Largo and drifting nearly 70 miles. — Yahoo! News

Woman disfigured after cancer misdiagnosis to get free surgery

A woman who says she was left disfigured by radiation therapy for cancer that she never had is set to undergo surgery today to reconstruct her face and restore her dignity. Lessya Kotelevskaya, 30, will have the million-dollar, 24-hour operation for free, thanks to a surgeon at the University of Louisville Hospital. — ABC News

Pa. mom gives birth during open heart surgery

A Pennsylvania mom is sharing her story after miraculously giving birth while undergoing open heart surgery. “The pain, it wasn’t sharp pain, it was just pressing. ... The last thing I remember is emergency people coming. That’s it.” WTXF reports Edita Tracey, who was eight months pregnant at the time, suffered a tear in her aorta, a major artery in the heart. When doctors put her to sleep for surgery, Tracey’s daughter was born about 30 seconds later. A heart surgeon says it was the most complicated procedure he has done in the last 30 years. — AOL

Sudanese mom sentenced to die for Christian faith is freed

Meriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese woman who gave birth in a Khartoum prison after being sentenced to death in May for allegedly converting from Islam to Christianity, has been freed, FoxNews.com has confirmed. Ibrahim, 27, refused to renounce her Christian faith in court in May, prompting a judge to sentence her to hang for apostasy. — Fox News
