Thanks for support of ‘Strut'
To the editor:
The 9th annual Strut Your Mutt dog walk and contests were recently held at DSC. More than 130 “mutts” appeared to enjoy their outing along with their humans.
Our emcee, Diane Franklin of Whitfield County Rabies Control, did an awesome job despite a sound system problem.
A new contest was added this year that was a big hit —The Best Kisser.
We appreciate our judges this year: Debbie Freeman, principal of Dalton High School; Andrea Bradley, principal of North Whitfield Middle School and Karey Williams, assistant principal of Valley Point Elementary.
Many thanks to sponsors: Top Dawg Grooming, Grandpaws at Home Pet Sitting Service, Kennel Creek, Alpine Boarding, Patricia’s Grooming and More, Bi-Lo Cleveland Highway, Applebee’s, O’Charley’s, Chili’s, Red Lobster, Longhorn, Captain D’s Walnut Avenue, Schlotzsky’s, Dalton Depot, Ryan’s, Western Sizzlin, Starbucks, Chic-fil-a, Associates in Healing Arts, Fuddruckers, Steak ‘n Shake, Food Lion-Cohutta, Dalton Golf & Country Club, Zaxby’s, Polka Dot Pics, Studio 101, Honey Baked Ham, Miller-Motte Technical College Spa & Salon, and Arby’s.
A huge thanks to the many volunteers who rallied and put this event on this year. We are gathering information from a questionnaire that was provided to all attendees asking for their comments and suggestions. The newly formed Strut Committee will be reviewing this information so that the 2009 Strut Your Mutt will offer more, be more enjoyable and bring more people from the community.
On a personal note, this is the first Strut I was unable to attend as I was out of state for many weeks to be with a sick family member. There were many folks who stepped up to “get the job done” and I sincerely appreciate them all.
