Grass, grass and more grass

To the editor:

What’s up with the dang grass the city is suppose to be mowing? It is everywhere!

Does the city still mow the “public areas” grass in this town, because someone is sleeping on the job?

I came up I-75 from Calhoun today and my gosh, the main exit for Dalton looked like something from a horror movie. It actually looked deserted and scary!

The light poles have rust all over them and look unsightly. There is trash dumped on both sides of the exit and the grass was up to my waist.

Honestly, if I were looking for a nice exit to get off on and have a bite to eat and take a rest from the road or wanted to get a hotel for the evening, I don't think I would pick the Walnut Avenue exit. It looks awful.

Come on city workers, what's up with that? We need people to want to come into Dalton, not drive on by.

Speaking of the public works department, I saw a group of about five guys standing around watching one guy do all the work the other day in front of Steak 'N Shake. And I thought — surely those other four men could be doing something a little more constructive — like mow the exit ramps.

I think our taxes are high enough in this town to warrant a well-kept city. In fact, based on our taxes we should have one of the most well-kept cities in the state of Georgia and I feel that we do not.
