Gruner takes post with NCLR

To the editor:

I'm America Gruner and this is to inform you that as of May 1st, 2008, I began working for the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) as the Southeast Organizational Development and Field Program Coordinator and I relocated to Atlanta. As you know the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is the largest national Latino civil rights organization in the country. Currently, a part of our focus is developing Latino organizational infrastructure in what we call new and emerging communities, those areas of the country that have seen a tremendous growth in the Latino population but lack advocacy organizations to support the community. My work will focus on developing and supporting Latino CBO infrastructure in the Southeast. In addition to the states we are currently engaged in I will also be targeting new outreach to AR, LA, SC, and KY in 2008. Another component of my work will be to develop, in collaboration with other organizations, a strategy to address anti-immigrant legislative initiatives in Georgia. As well as work in coalition with a variety of organizations throughout the region to improve the quality of life for Latinos.
