Dumping animals is shameful

To the editor:

This letter is directed to the person or people who dumped the five dogs in a cemetery in the Westside community on Wednesday evening, Aug. 20.

I saw you race away from the cemetery in you light colored SUV, a gray/silver Jeep Cherokee I believe. I also saw the dogs chasing after you. Shame on you! Not only is it immoral to abandon animals, it is also a crime. Do you know what happens to animals that you dump in the back of a cemetery where you think no one will see?

Well I do. They starve or die of thirst. Do you remember how hot it was that day? It was around 90 degrees. Did you think there was a magical water and food bowl sitting there just waiting for your unwanted dogs? Or did you expect people living in the neighborhood to take responsibility for you?

If your dogs don’t die of thirst or starvation, they will be killed by cars or other animals. I hope this makes you and all the other people in this county who dump animals, think before they do so. It is cruel, inhumane and ignorant. You should be ashamed of yourself.

There are other options. Contact the Humane Society or look on the Internet for animal rescue programs.

Let’s stop this senseless practice.
