Letter: Information sought in Hackney death

Dalton Daily Citizen

To the editor:

On Easter Sunday, April 12 2009, a witness said my brother Waylon Keith “Bo” Hackney went fishing in the Conasauga River at 4177 Brown Bridge Road around 3 p.m. At 8:45 p.m. a friend of his came to my father Winston Hackney’s house and said Bo never returned from fishing.

My father called 911. For five days the rescuers searched and dragged the river until my brother’s body was found, a little over a mile from were he was last seen.

Bo’s family and friends feel this was not a accident because my brother has lived on that river for 15 years and he would never fish or float the river alone. He had a little 9-year-old girl and he had never left her for a long period of time, especially on Easter Sunday.

Bo’s family and friends are pleading. If anyone saw anything or knows what happened to my brother, please come forward and contact us.

Please call either Angie Garmley (706-483-0690) or Winston Hackney (706-517-1491) or call law enforcement.

Thank you so much.

Angie Garmley
